The Library is seeking to fill an ongoing Coordinator, Digital Preservation APS5 role in the Data Governance and Management Section of the Digital Branch.
The role is responsible for analysing data from the Library’s digital preservation system to identify digital preservation issues and risks, and investigates and proposes solutions to resolve or mitigate them. The role designs and implements digital preservation workflows and assists Library staff with processing digital collection material into the Library’s digital preservation system, and undertakes research on file-format support to implement the NLA digital preservation knowledge base.
The role also applies innovative initiatives to contribute to the improvement in quality and efficiency of the organisations digital workflow that affects digital preservation and contribute to the provision of professional advice for the development of policies, strategies and procedures.
The successful candidate will provide technical expertise on complex issues, working across a broad range of activities that potentially relate to the work of different program areas and stakeholders. This requires effective management of competing priorities and includes activities relevant to:
- Implementing the Digital Preservation program.
- Providing technical guidance for investigations into the preservation management system.
- Determining preservation approaches for “at-risk” formats.
- Ensuring the digital preservation software system continues to meet the business needs of the NLA.
To succeed in this role:
- You will have qualifications or equivalent experience in Information technology or cultural material conservation.
- Experience in a digital preservation program in a collecting organisation.
