Due to great success and ongoing projects, we and are expanding our team and are looking for a Lead Systems and Safety Engineer to join the Naval Design and Engineering Centre in its Melbourne, Docklands office.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a successful multi-disciplined Engineering team and work alongside industry leaders and like-minded engineers on exciting new naval ship designs. The Lead Systems and Safety Engineer is responsible for the development and review of systems engineering and safety engineering outputs. This includes co-ordinating and leading system and safety engineering activities involving the engineering team and external stakeholders.

As the designer and through participation in the Destroyer Guided Missile (DDG), Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR), Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) and LHD Landing Craft (LLC) programs, Navantia Australia has been a vital part of interesting, innovative and cutting-edge shipbuilding and sustainment activities. Navantia Australia also supports the Navy through provision of design compliant and product agnostic engineering upgrades to meet demands for capability advancements to accommodate for new and emerging threats.

Experience required:
- Experience in an Systems Engineering and/or Safety Engineering role
- Experience in the Defence sector, ideally Naval
- Knowledge of Systems Engineering requirements
- Knowledge of Safety Engineering requirements including relevant specifications and standards.
- Experience in working in an engineering team environment .
- Tertiary qualification in engineering, project management, or related technical discipline
- Circa 8 years + in an Safety Engineering capacity
- Experience in team leadership
- Australian Citizenship required as well as an ability to attain AGSVA security clearance
