The New Acland Coal Mine (NAC), a thin seam open cut mining operation is owned and managed by New Hope Group. Based in Acland, a short drive north-west of Toowoomba NAC has played a key role in the Darling Downs region as an employer and economic contributor since it began operation in October 2002.

We are excited to offer a permanent full-time position for an experienced Management Accountant to join our team on site at New Acland Coal.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Management Accountant, you will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, cost control and financial analysis to ensure the mine operates efficiently and profitably.

You Will Achieve Success By

• Taking a lead role in the processing and execution of accounting and finance activities
• Assisting with the preparation of periodic management accounts, reports and analysis
• Assisting with information required for financial statements, fixed asset register and monthly reports
• Supporting the forecasting and budgeting process
• Assisting with internal audits and compliance with financial policies and statutory requirements
• Identify opportunities for process improvement within financial processes
  
  

What You Will Need To Succeed

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business highly regarded
• CPA/CA/CIMA or similar accreditation preferred
• Experience with mining / resource accounting, budgeting and forecasting
• Strong understanding of effective management accounting processes
• Ability to apply data analytical techniques
• Strong communication skills to communicate effectively across all levels of site
• Be able to work as part of a team
