Who we are looking for

We’re looking for an inspiring and driven leader to take charge of our Credit Assessment Team at Athena. You’ll be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and knows how to build a high-performing culture where quality, speed and service excellence go hand-in-hand. With strong people leadership skills, you’ll coach and support your team to consistently deliver first-class credit decisions and seamless broker and customer experiences.



As the Credit Manager you will be responsible for leading a high performing credit assessment team at Athena. The key deliverables of this role are:

  • People Leadership:
    • Creating a high-performance culture
    • Coaching team members to achieve outstanding results
    • Running effective team meetings – daily buzz, 1-on-1’s etc
    • Career Development and ongoing training plans
    • Performance Management through setting clear expectations and measuring outputs.
  • Performance of quality and turn-around times
    • Lead the credit team to deliver great 1st time decisions and quality outcomes
    • Lead the credit team to deliver great turn-around times to brokers and customers
    • Using robust operational management, performance management and workforce planning to ensure great outcomes every day
  • Outstanding Customer and Broker Service
    • Coach your team, and set them up for success to deliver world class operational service
    • Measure the team to ensure that every customer interaction is a great experience
    • Articulate the Athena policy and appetite to brokers and openly workshop alternative outcomes when possible
  • Change Management
    • Ensuring you are across change and effectively communicating that to your team
    • Representing your team in process change meetings
    • Contributing innovative ideas to help Athena continually evolve
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Build and maintain outstanding relationships with key stakeholders both within the Risk Team and wider Athena business
    • Foster great relationships with our key sales teams and collaborate with them to achieve great customer outcomes



Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a people leader, with a proven ability to coach, develop and inspire a high-performing team
  • Strong background in credit assessment or credit risk within home lending space
  • Demonstrated experience in operational performance management — including setting and monitoring KPIs, planning and driving efficiency
  • Ability to deliver outstanding broker and customer experience
  • Ability to interpret and communicate credit policy and appetite and collaborate with brokers to explore alternative solutions
  • Comfortable navigating and leading change — effectively communicating updates and helping teams adapt to evolving processes and priorities
  • Skilled in building strong cross-functional relationships
  • Adaptable and hands-on, with experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth or scale-up environment
