About the OPPORTUNITY:

We are excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician (level 2) to join our Aircraft Maintenance Organisation (AMO). Reporting to the NDT Team Leader, you will be responsible for the completion of Non-Destructive Testing maintenance tasks on aeronautical products including the Hawk Lead-In Fighter (LIF) and F35 Aircraft.

Based at BAE Systems Williamtown offices in NSW, this role has the option of a 9-day fortnight with mobility support available for regional or interstate candidates.

Key RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct NDT of Hawk and F35 aircraft and aircraft components
  • Work in accordance with approved data and technical authorisations
  • Complete NDT reports to a high level of technical detail,
  • Perform Magnetic Particle, Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Ultrasonic and Radiographic Testing
  • Routinely interpret and analyse outputs from NDT digital flaw detectors
  • Liaise with the appropriate engineers and maintenance staff
  • Undertake specific additional training in new NDT methods and technologies
  • Comply with all safety procedures and legislation associated with NDT
  • Assist the NDT Responsible Level 3 in the development of NDT procedures
  • Maintenance and calibration on workshops, facilities and equipment


About YOU:

  • Aviation trade qualification; Cert IV Aeroskills or equivalent (Mandatory)
  • Qualified Level 2 Non-Destructive Testing technician in accordance with EN 4179 or equivalent (Mandatory)
  • Experience with Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Eddy Current, Ultrasonic and Radiographic Test methods (Radiographic Test experience not essential)
  • Demonstrated experience performing aircraft maintenance and NDT
  • Complete annual/five yearly practical/theoretical examination/assessment.
  • Experience with developing new technical procedures
  • Experience with risk management systems and completing risk assessments.

Applicant ELIGIBILITY:

A Defence Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance is required for the position so candidates are required to be Australian Citizens to apply and either currently possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate level Government security clearance.
