About The Team

When you join the Infrastructure Projects team, you’ll join a group of professionals delivering Australia’s future rail network. To help grow rail transport in Australia, the team is focused on ensuring the delivery of critical construction projects across the country, including implementation of our $1 billion Network Investment Program that we’ve developed with the Australian Government. Whether it’s designing, building or maintaining crucial rail infrastructure, the team plays a pivotal role in our ongoing efforts to improve network resilience and keep the future of freight on track.

About The Opportunity

As Senior Project Engineer Crossing Loop Extension Project you will provide project management and engineering technical support to deliver the Crossing Loop Extension Project between Broken Hill to Parkes in New South Wales associated with ARTC $1B Network Invest Program. This role plays a key part in delivering & supporting essential upgrades and expansions across the network, supporting increased capacity, reliability, and efficiency while maintaining strict adherence to project cost, safety, and quality objectives.

Reporting to a Project Manager, you will assist in delivering the Crossing Loop Extension Project safely, within budget and schedule as well as other identified projects within the section of the track between Broken Hill to Parkes.

Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Provide project engineering support in the different phases of project cycle commencing from project feasibility, design development, contractor procurement, construction, commissioning and handover of the project.
  • Provide reports to the Senior Project Manager on monthly costs, time and safety performance requirements for components of the project.
  • Ensure project requirements are met in managing project interfaces with ARTC operations, corridor managers, external stakeholders including utility authorities, local councils, community and state agencies where required.
  • Ensure compliance with ARTC’s Safety Policy and Environmental Policy requirements.

This role will require regular site travel however not a FIFO/DIDO rostered basis.

What do we want from you?

Building on your leadership and proactive approach to safety, you should possess strong communication skills and problem-resolution capabilities working within project delivery environment. Additionally, your extensive experience in managing and delivering capital works projects, particularly in greenfield or brownfield rail construction, will be highly regarded.

Additionally You Should Be Able To Demonstrate

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Eligibility for membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia
  • At least 6 years proven experience in engineering maintenance, construction or project management a multi-disciplinary engineering or linear infrastructure environment
  • Driver’s licence – Class C
  • Demonstrated experience working in the rail sector delivering projects and/or major maintenance works of at least 2 years.
