This role is at the heart of a deeply compassionate team that walks alongside individuals who identify as male facing the harsh realities of homelessness and complex personal challenges. You’ll be the first to welcome them into a safe, supportive environment—one built on trust, dignity, and human connection. Your presence can be the turning point in someone’s journey, offering hope where it’s needed most and reminding every individual that they are seen, valued, and never alone.
About The Role
As a his is your opportunity to play a vital part in creating a sense of home and belonging for individuals facing homelessness— Through the open door program based in Flagstaff meeting you will meet clients immediate needs with compassion, while empowering them to regain independence, reconnect with community, and rediscover hope through client-centred, strengths-based, and trauma-informed support.
Reporting to the this is a Community of Support Team Leader, this is a Permanent, Full-time, located in North Melbourne, Victoria.
The compensation is in accordance with SCHADS LEVEL 4.

How you will make an impact;
- Support residents to build independence through daily living skills and meaningful group activities that foster wellbeing and connection.
- Connect clients with vital support services including mental health, AOD, and therapeutic care within and beyond The Salvation Army.
- Help create a safe, inclusive community by working closely with caseworkers and partners in a trauma-informed, respectful environment.
- Respond calmly to challenging situations, ensuring safety, accurate records, and clear communication with leadership.
- Be part of a compassionate team culture, sharing duties, mentoring new staff, and supporting the smooth running of the facility.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, community services or related field
- Experience and knowledge of housing and homelessness sector (desirable)
- A National Criminal History Check
