Due to continued success and growth and a steady backlog of work, we are recruiting for a Senior Terrestrial Ecologist (5+ years’ experience), who is looking for a supportive work environment as part of a large team of industry professionals with diverse backgrounds and experience to learn from. The role can be based in either of our Brisbane, Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast offices.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Working on local, national and international projects to identify, assess and monitor ecological values, particularly within the markets of Energy, Resources, Transport, Water and Future Communities.
  • Conducting field surveys for baseline ecological assessments, targeted threatened species surveys, long-term monitoring, and assessment of biocondition.
  • Identifying ecological impacts, developing avoidance and mitigation plans, assessing significant residual impacts in accordance with guidelines, and developing biodiversity offset solutions.
  • Applying the principals of threatened species legislation; policy; management, conservation and recovery plans.
  • Supporting key clients to drive sustainable environmental outcomes on major projects.
  • Developing relationships with industry networks, government and university leaders and clients.
  • Working within multidisciplinary teams, to drive best outcomes for clients, community and the environment.

What would you bring to the team?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Zoology/Ecology/Natural Resource Management/Conservation Biology coupled with professional experience in ecological impact assessment, management and monitoring and biodiversity offsets.
  • Previous experience in a similar role with a minimum of 5 years’ experience either in consulting or Local / State government.
  • Demonstrated field survey capabilities in fauna habitat mapping, fauna species identification, threatened species surveys and biocondition assessments.
  • Knowledge of QLD and Commonwealth regulatory frameworks and policy with respect to listed matters, management and offsetting.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated track record in the planning, coordination and management of environmental projects.
  • Strong networking and client relationship management skills.
