About The Role

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Manager, Software Engineering to lead high-performing software development teams—including offshore contractors—in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for software delivery, maintenance, team development, and strategic project execution.

Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, this is a permanent full-time role to be based in Sydney with the possibility of combined home/office-based arrangements to have flexible work-life balance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor engineering teams and offshore partners
  • Oversee software development, maintenance and Tier 3 production support, when needed
  • Analyzing customer and system issues and ensuring achievement of service level agreements
  • Partner with Product and Project teams to align tech strategy with business goals
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in coding standards and deployment practices
  • Provide clear progress reporting to senior management
  • Contribute to strategic decisions, resource planning, and budgeting

Requirements

  • 10+ years in software development, including 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Strong technical background in Java, SQL, .Net, C++, Cloud technologies or similar
  • Expertise in Agile, SDLC, and modern development practices
  • Proven experience managing offshore teams and working across time zones
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
