Our client is a leading multidisciplinary gambling law and advisory firm and finalist in the Australian Law Awards - "Firm of the Year 2022". Due to their continued growth, they have multiple Associate Lawyer roles to join their team in Australia.
The people are recognised globally as experts in the gambling industry and ranked highly in Chambers and Partners Global and Asia Pacific. The team is trusted advisers to some of the world's largest and most successful gambling and gaming operators, many of which are publicly listed both in Australia and internationally as well as innovative start-ups and leading players in support industries. We also work closely with industry regulators and principal racing authorities. Recent high profile engagements include MIXI Inc., takeover of Pointsbet and Bally's Corporation takeover of The Star.
Your role will primarily involve providing legal support and advice in relation to a wide range of areas including corporate commercial work, regulatory advice, compliance frameworks, assessing new product offerings, advertising and marketing, licensing, industry mergers and acquisitions, contractual matters and negotiations and advising on AML/CTF and responsible gambling laws and regulations.
You will form part of a collaborative high-performing dynamic team that thrives on complexity and providing pragmatic and commercially focused advice. You will have exposure to all parts of the firm including legal, advisory, compliance academy, events and our new service line - technologies.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Considering new product offerings, advertising campaigns, development of marketing, responsible gambling and other policies and consumer-facing documentation and;
- Assisting clients in connection with regulatory investigations and queries by local gambling authorities, the ACCC, AUSTRAC, law enforcement and other statutory bodies;
- License applications, renewals and variations;
- Supporting clients to comply with their legal and regulatory obligations and to provide their products and services responsibly and sustainably;
- Advice in relation to various state and territory-based gambling laws and regulation;
- Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing advice and program reviews; and
- Corporate and commercial advice.
To Be Considered For The Role, Key Requirements Include
- Associate Lawyer with a mid or top tier law firm, industry participant or regulator.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to develop genuine rapport and work closely with Principals and other team members day-to-day.
- Ability to prioritise and re-prioritise workflow.
- Sharp legal analysis and critical thinking skills.
- High attention to detail.
