The Opportunity

The Responsible Investment team supports the Future Fund in managing environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities across the investment portfolio.

The Director, Social will play a pivotal role in advancing our Responsible Investment (RI) strategy. This senior position requires a seasoned investment professional with expertise in RI and social issues. The position will lead the integration of RI principles and the consideration of social risks and opportunities across our investment portfolio, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals. This role will also collaborate with senior RI subject matter experts in the team to ensure knowledge sharing and alignment in objectives and work programs. Some of the key objectives of the role include:

• Collaboration across the investment team on the implementation of RI management principles, ESG integration strategies, frameworks and tools.
• Supporting the investment team to understand social risks and opportunities throughout due diligence, appointment and monitoring of investment managers.
• Leading strategic research, monitoring and reporting of social risks and opportunities across the investment portfolio.
• Engagement with industry and investee companies through our stewardship and collaboration programs.

Key Responsibilities

The key focus of the Director, Social is integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, with a specific emphasis on social risk and opportunity management, into our investment process.

You'll be responsible for designing and delivering training programs aimed at enhancing the investment team's understanding of social risks and opportunities, conducting due diligence on social risks associated with specific investments by integrating these considerations into investment research and decision-making processes. You'll also be responsible for identifying and monitoring social risks within investment portfolios, aligning these insights with the organisation's broader investment goals.

Collaboration and stakeholder engagement are essential components of the position. You'll build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external partners, sharing insights and best practices to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Strong communication skills are necessary to articulate complex social risk concepts clearly, both in written and verbal formats, and to effectively manage projects that involve multiple stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery of initiatives that enhance the organisation's impact and reputation.
