The Company

A global engineering consultancy is looking to execute a mining processing infrastructure (maintenance and expansion) project on their mines in South Australia. As a result, we are looking for 2 experienced Area Managers to take on this challenge.

The Role

The Area Manager will be responsible for the project planning, schedules, budgets, stakeholder engagement, risk management, deconstruction and construction activities in the hot metals area (x1) and the non-hot metals and utilities area (x1).

You will be working in the Adelaide office initially with ad hoc site visits, then moving on to a 2/1 FIFO in the next phase. The project last longer than 12 months.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Establish project objectives, scope, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Identify and engage with all relevant stakeholders, including internal teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Lead the planning and execution of scheduled and unscheduled shutdowns across furnaces/hot metals area (x1) and non-hot metals and associated utilities areas (x1).
  • Transitioning to the mine’s operation to oversee deconstruction and construction, and implementation.
  • Managing project risks and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Reporting on project progress and performance.
  • Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to manage procurement and delivery of materials.
  • Implement and enforce HSE policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or trades qualified.
  • Substantial experience in brownfields and shutdowns work in a mining environment
  • Substantial experience in furnaces and/or site services work in a mining environment
