Our Global Corporate Procurement team is seeking a Category Manager to join the APAC team based in Sydney, AU.Key job responsibilities
You will create and implement sourcing strategies for multiple categories, collaborate with internal business partners and suppliers to drive efficiencies that reduce risks and costs for Amazon. You will develop mechanisms and metrics to hold suppliers accountable for performance and delivery, and, you will drive results through methods that include competitive bidding, negotiating, and analyzing data to identify market trends for your categories.
More specifically you will:
- Understand customer requirements and analyze category data to establish and implement robust regional procurement category strategies that deliver value to the business
- Manage multiple indirect categories for our APAC region that could include Marketing, Professional Services, HR, Security, FM (prior experience in managing marketing spend will be held in high regard)
- Ensure speedy execution of RFPs/tenders across multiple countries from supplier on-boarding, RFx initiation, pre-tender briefings, post-tender interviews and clarifications, proposal evaluations, negotiations and supplier selection
- Provide in-depth knowledge about the supply market and supplier capabilities, technically and geographically to the business.
- Develop mechanisms and metrics to track supplier performance related to delivery, quality, and cost
- Lead business reviews to discuss best practices to ultimately improve supplier performance and strengthen business partnerships
- Innovate within the procurement space, automating and/or improving tools or processes to better support the Procurement Lifecycle
- Provide commercial and procurement advice to internal stakeholders and manage supplier relationships, including the resolution of issues and disputes.
This role will require strong leadership skills and interaction/influence with teams across Amazon to drive the improvement of procurement function. The ideal candidate will be curious, have strong attention to detail, be energized by a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, be comfortable thinking big while also diving deep, will have high level EQ and comfort managing senior stakeholders. Your goal is to develop and deliver innovative processes to create financial benefits through procurement. You will be a thought leader on procurement management, possess superior communication skills and thrive when building relationships with customers and suppliers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications1) 3+ years of relevant strategic sourcing experience.
2) BS/BA Degree
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred QualificationsA) 3+ years of in-depth experience in best-in-class procurement practices (category management, benchmarking, should-cost models, RFX, reverse auction, contracting, etc.).
B) MBA/MS degree.
C) Extremely customer-focused and takes the time to understand the needs of the business.
D) Passionate self-starter with the highest integrity and ethics.
E) Strong negotiator with proven experience in setting negotiation strategies and conducting negotiations.
F) Working knowledge of the basic types of commercial agreement structures and the function and purpose of key legal terms.
G) Ability to assess risk and concisely explain complex issues to principal business owners.
H) Experience working in a large, global, highly matrixed organization.
I) Strong analytical skills including the ability to quickly synthesize, distill and draw conclusions on large amounts of disparate data.
J) Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
K) Excellent written and oral communication skills.
