As an Associate in our Economics Portfolio (EP) team, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-impact investment projects. You’ll work closely with central government agencies—like Queensland Treasury and the Department of State Development—providing strategic advice on major public investments across a range of sectors. You’ll be part of a collaborative, high-performing team that brings a commercial lens to government decision-making, helping to deliver better financial and economic outcomes for Queensland.
What You Will Do
QTC is the central financing authority for the Queensland Government and provides financial resources and services for the State. We manage the State’s funding program in the global capital markets to deliver sustainable and cost-effective borrowings for the Queensland Government, local governments, and other related entities (our clients).
With a statutory role to advance the financial interests and development of the State, we help to deliver innovative, long-term solutions that contribute to the growth of Queensland’s economy. We protect Queensland’s financial interests and deliver better financial outcomes by centralising the management of our clients’ borrowings, cash investments, and foreign exchange.
Within QTC, the Advisory Division provides a range of financial and risk management services to help State Government, Local Governments, Government Owned Corporations, education institutions, and statutory authorities to make well-informed decisions about the services, initiatives, policies, and projects they deliver. The common purpose being to improve the social and economic well-being of Queenslanders and the financial sustainability of the State.

What You Will Do
- Build and analyse financial and data models to uncover insights and support investment decisions.
- Translate complex findings into clear, actionable advice for senior stakeholders.
- Contribute to due diligence, identifying risks and opportunities in major transactions.
- Present your work to internal teams and senior government stakeholders.
- Collaborate across teams to deliver strategic, financial, and commercial advice.
- Take ownership of your professional development and contribute to team growth.
- 2+ years of experience in a corporate finance, investment banking, consulting, or similar.
- Strong skills in financial modelling, valuation, and data analysis.
- Ability to synthesise complex information and communicate it clearly.
- A passion for improving investment outcomes.
- A degree in finance, economics, commerce, or a related field.
- Experience in transaction advisory, private equity, or corporate development.
- Exposure to government transactions or investment programs or public-private partnerships.
- Relevant hands-on experience in buy-side and/or sell-side corporate, infrastructure or real asset transactions.
