Position Profile
The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is seeking Senior Emergency Management Officers to join our Emergency Management Unit (EMU). This is an exciting opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact projects that safeguard patients, families, and staff across our health service.
In this role, you will engage with and support stakeholders across all levels of our organisation, focusing on emergency preparedness, response coordination, and continuity planning, and apply your operational and legislative knowledge of incident coordination, emergency planning, and continuity frameworks, fire safety, emergency codes, and infrastructure failure response.

About Our Team
The Emergency Management Unit play a critical role in supporting CAHS, including Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) specialist paediatric services, and associated community-based services across the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS). We are committed to ensuring the safety, continuity, and resilience of care for staff, and young people—including vulnerable patients—families, and visitors, in alignment National Safety & Quality Health Service Standards.
Our core responsibility is to build and maintain the organisation’s capacity to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from a broad range of incidents and disruptions. These include clinical emergencies, infrastructure failures, public health threats such as pandemics, and external events like natural disasters.
A key focus of our work is the delivery of emergency management training across the organisation. This includes the planning and facilitation of simulations, drills, and scenario-based exercises designed to ensure consistent standards of emergency readiness across hospital and community sites. And strengthen our workforce’s ability to respond effectively in critical situations.

- Based at Perth Children’s Hospital: Full time, fixed term, supporting return-to-work backfill, including whole-facility emergency management across clinical, non-clinical, and critical infrastructure areas.
- Community focused position: Full-time, fixed term, supporting emergency management activities across multiple community sites, based at PCH and requiring occasional travel.
Position Profile

Key Responsibilities Include
- Deliver and coordinate emergency training exercises (Code Yellow, Code Orange, helipad and fire warden walkthroughs, evacuation drills).
- Lead and facilitate business continuity planning and the review of service-specific emergency response protocols.
- Provide high-level advice and support during emergency events, working alongside the Incident Management Team (IMT) and Hospital Clinical Managers (HCMs).
- Contribute to CAHS compliance with Standard 1 of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
- Support data management, reporting, post-incident reviews, and quality improvement activities.

- Evidence of a Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy and eligible for registration by the relevant Board of Australia, or Tertiary qualification in Prosthetics and Orthotics and eligible for full membership of the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association (AOPA), or Tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligible for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers or the Society of Professional Social Workers, or Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and eligible for full membership of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).
