The Salvation Army (Salvos) Doorways model of care provides holistic financial support to individuals and families seeking short term financial assistance and ongoing financial management support services. The Doorways Team provide person-centred trauma informed care, facilitate short-term financial assistance, and walk side-by-side with participants as they build the skills and knowledge to break the cycle of poverty.
About The Role
Are you passionate about empowering people and creating lasting change in your community? As a Case Worker, you’ll play a vital role in helping individuals and families achieve their goals through meaningful partnerships, collaborative support, and effective case management.
Join a compassionate team where you'll work alongside Corps Officers, dedicated Volunteers, and co-located Mission Leaders to deliver a truly integrated and person-centered Doorways service. Together, you'll provide practical support, hope, and pathways to a brighter future for those who need it most.
Reporting to Doorways Leadership, this is a permanent part-time position, 22.8 hours per week. This position is located in Cranbourne, Victoria - Cranbourne Corps, located in Clyde North

Compensation is in accordance with Social Community Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 4 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties, allowances, NFP salary packaging.

You will successfully
- Assess community members’ specific needs, strengths and identification of interrelated issues and needs
- Develop high quality case plans with community members to identify achievable goals using a strength-based approach.
- Use prevention and early intervention strategy and response to deliver support and services to people experiencing disadvantage and financial hardship
- Complete assessments and referrals for additional financial support e.g., applications for No Interest Loans (NILS), Energy Assistance, following State based practice guides and processes
- Provide guidance to community members, Corps Officers, volunteers, internal and external services in how to access Doorways Emergency Financial Relief.
- Develop and maintain referral pathways for other support and services
- Provide advocacy to support community members to access services
- Degree level qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or other Community/Human Services discipline is highly desirable, or a Diploma and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in the community services sector would be considered
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- A current and valid VIC Working with Children’s Check
