The Opportunity
The Responsible Investment team supports the Future Fund in managing environmental, social, governance and climate change risks and opportunities across the investment portfolio.
The Manager, Stewardship will play a pivotal role in implementing our Responsible Investment (RI) strategy. The position requires an experienced professional with expertise in RI and stewardship.
The position will work closely with the Director, Stewardship to deliver proxy voting and engagement activities across our investment portfolio, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals.
This role will also collaborate with senior RI subject matter experts in the team to ensure knowledge sharing and alignment in objectives and work programs. Some of the key objectives of the role include:
- Collaboration across the investment team on the implementation of RI management principles, stewardship strategies, frameworks and tools.
- Supporting the investment team to understand ESG risks and opportunities identified through engagement on stewardship topics with investment managers and investee entities.
- Researching, monitoring and reporting of stewardship activity across the investment portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Your role as Manager, Stewardship will involve capacity-building initiatives to enhance the investment team's understanding of stewardship practices. This involves collaborating with internal teams and external partners to develop and execute stewardship programs, such as strategic engagement and proxy voting, while ensuring alignment with organisational goals. The role also requires monitoring and evaluating stewardship practices to assess their effectiveness and improve the quality of responsible investment due diligence.
Key to success of the position is collaboration and relationship building with stakeholders to foster knowledge sharing within the industry. The successful candidate will actively participate in external collaborations, contribute to industry knowledge, and maintain strong connections with stakeholders to enhance the organisation's stewardship initiatives, ultimately protecting and enhancing investment value.
About You
We are seeking a candidate with a strong academic background in finance, economics, or sustainable investment, complemented by proven expertise in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues.
Ideal candidates will have experience in developing insights related to stewardship, as well as a demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders effectively. This role requires a deep understanding of RI practices and a commitment to driving ESG initiatives within institutional investing and corporate contexts.
Additionally, you should be able to demonstrate innovation through improvement to decision making processes and staying updated on industry developments, all while being willing to challenge conventional thinking to drive positive change.
