As a Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering expert advice and tailored support to children, young people, families, foster and kinship carers, and staff. What You’ll Do
As a Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering expert advice and tailored support to children, young people, families, foster and kinship carers, and staff. From assessing and planning individual needs to facilitating educational programs and collaborating with key stakeholders, your impact will resonate across communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and evaluating educational and therapeutic programs.
- Providing direct support, case management, and after-hours assistance as needed.
- Collaborating with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities to deliver culturally safe and sustainable outcomes.
- Guiding and training staff to enhance professional development and service delivery.
- Building strong networks with community partners and stakeholders.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, or related discipline (or 5+ years of equivalent experience).
- Applied knowledge of child protection and trauma frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability in assessment, planning, and supporting children and families with complex needs.
- Experience in culturally inclusive practices with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- A Current driver’s license and ability to acquire a National Police Certificate, Working with Children (Blue Card), Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS).
- Understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012.
- Service quality improvement experience.
