Role: Payroll Officer
Reports to: Group Financial Controller
Role Overview:
The Payroll Officer is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll across multiple regions, maintaining compliance with tax regulations, and supporting project accounting functions.
Responsibilities:
Payroll
- Prepare Australian payroll in Xero.
- Facilitate preparation of overseas payrolls with external advisors, including USA (via ADP), New Zealand, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, and the UK.
- Work closely with internal teams to capture payroll changes.
- Address payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
- Reconcile payroll source data across systems.
- Ensure compliance with payroll related tax returns (superannuation, payroll tax, Workcover, etc).
- Research and analyse exit terms/costs.
- Process payroll-related journals.
- Collaborate with regional external partners to prepare tax-related reports.
- Any other payroll-related matters.
General Accounting Support
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Collaborate with the finance team to improve processes and efficiencies.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in payroll processing.
- Strong understanding of Australian tax regulations and payroll laws is essential.
- Experience with overseas payroll processing would be ideal, but not essential.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Experience with tax is desirable.
