Role: Payroll Officer

Reports to: Group Financial Controller


Role Overview:

The Payroll Officer is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll across multiple regions, maintaining compliance with tax regulations, and supporting project accounting functions.


Responsibilities:

Payroll

  • Prepare Australian payroll in Xero.
  • Facilitate preparation of overseas payrolls with external advisors, including USA (via ADP), New Zealand, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, and the UK.
  • Work closely with internal teams to capture payroll changes.
  • Address payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
  • Reconcile payroll source data across systems.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll related tax returns (superannuation, payroll tax, Workcover, etc).
  • Research and analyse exit terms/costs.
  • Process payroll-related journals.
  • Collaborate with regional external partners to prepare tax-related reports.
  • Any other payroll-related matters.

General Accounting Support

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to improve processes and efficiencies.


Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in payroll processing.
  • Strong understanding of Australian tax regulations and payroll laws is essential.
  • Experience with overseas payroll processing would be ideal, but not essential.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience with tax is desirable.
