What are we looking for?

An exciting opportunity is now available to join our National Information Technology (IT) team in Melbourne.

As a member of the IT Team, your role as a Senior Solution Architect – Engineering & Integration will play a pivotal role in shaping and optimising the digital technology landscape for the Company.

You will be responsible for designing and implementing complex, scalable, and future-proof technology solutions to align with business objectives. This role requires a solid understanding of digital technology systems, practitioner level understanding and experience in best practice integration platforms and approaches and industry best practices to realise the IT strategies aligned with the company's long-term goals.

Other Key Responsibilities Will Include

Architecture Design

  • Contribute to, and follow the enterprise architecture framework, standards, guidelines and principles for technology solutions.
  • Design end-to-end, scalable, and robust architectural solutions that meet business requirements and align with industry best practices, with an emphasis on digital application engineering and integration.
  • Deep experience in integration engineering, APIs and implementation of integration platforms in complex environments, undergoing transformation.
  • Work closely with the IT Information security team on cybersecurity-related aspects of each solution.

Technology Evaluation

  • Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and platforms to assess their suitability for specific initiatives and wider use.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis and feasibility studies for proposed technology solutions.
  • Provide thought leadership, mentoring and coaching on the application of new technologies across IT peers and business.

Solution Planning

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, executives, and IT/PMO teams to understand initiative context within the department and organisation goals and objectives.
  • Directly contribute to the design, development and maintenance of a technology roadmap and IT strategies aligned with the business strategy, especially regarding digital application engineering and integration.
  • Identify opportunities for IT innovation and improvement to drive efficiency, agility, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Deliver solution architectures and high-level designs for business and IT initiatives.

Governance and Compliance

  • Enforce compliance with architecture standards, policies, and security protocols across all IT projects.
  • Present to IT governance forums on solution architecture and technology-related matters.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to architecture, data security, and regulatory compliance.

Leadership

  • Provide mentoring and coaching to IT technical teams around solution architecture components and best practice, with an emphasis on digital applications engineering and integration services.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to project teams and business groups around solution components and the suitable application of, and opportunities for the application of new and existing technologies.

What will you bring?

Our successful candidate will have a capability, skill and experience in the following

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 5+ years Solution Architect experience within a medium to large organisation. Hands on software engineering experience preferably full stack, and with deep experience in the integration space
  • Deep knowledge and experience in digital application engineering and integration architectures and patterns.
  • Sound knowledge of domain-level application, data, infrastructure, and security architecture.
  • Solid understanding of industry standards, frameworks and best practices (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate, ITIL, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in technology evaluation, selection, and vendor management.
  • Demonstrated experience in working in multi-skilled, cross domain project teams
  • Ability to work on multiple initiatives at one time and adapt to change

It would also be great if you had the following certifications and experience

  • TOGAF, Azure/ AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar.
  • Experience/be comfortable architecting with on prem infrastructure and cloud based infra (Azure & AWS)
  • Experience in participating in major business and IT transformation programs
  • Experience in developing or contributing to digital technology roadmaps in medium sized enterprises
