This is your opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining the diverse vehicle and equipment fleet that keeps one of Australia's busiest airports running smoothly.

We’re looking for an experienced Vehicle Mechanic to join our Vehicle & Plant Team at Melbourne Airport. In this permanent, full-time role, you’ll help manage and maintain a fleet of around 200 assets—including cars, trucks, tractors, mowing equipment, and airport-specific vehicles—critical to the safe operation of our airfield and facilities.

As part of a small, tight-knit team you’ll be the go-to technical expert for fleet maintenance, contributing to asset performance, safety, and compliance with CASA regulations.

Key responsibilities:

The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out hands-on mechanical maintenance across a diverse fleet
  • Supporting asset lifecycle management and preventative maintenance improvements
  • Managing data and work orders in Maximo/EAM
  • Supporting procurement activities, including raising purchase orders and invoice receipting
  • Contributing to capital works projects as required
  • Championing safety, compliance, and operational efficiency


The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience or training as a vehicle mechanic. We will consider qualified mechanics and/or those who have completed training and are driven to develop a career in this space
  • Strong work ethic. Motivated to learn and develop skills
  • Exposure to heavy vehicles is an advantage
  • Safety-first mindset and strong communication skills
  • Comfortable using computers and Microsoft Office tools
  • Team player with initiative and a focus on great service
