Position Information

Cabramatta High School is a comprehensive, coeducational high school located in Southwest Sydney. The school has a total student population of over 1550 students and includes an Intensive English Centre and Support Unit. 96% of students are from a language background other than English, with fifty-five cultural groups represented in the school. The school has a strong focus on academic excellence, collaborative practice, holistic education, wellbeing programs, innovative professional learning and community partnerships. The school and its community have a strong culture of high expectations in all learning areas. The teacher position is in the Intensive English Centre, including responsibilities to deliver quality teaching and learning, with an EAL/D focus, across a range of subjects to newly arrived migrant, refugee and international students.


Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach English as an Additional Language/Dialect (Secondary) and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education, demonstrating the ability to support the language development of newly arrived students.
  • Deep understanding of EAL/D pedagogy and the ability to embed differentiated EAL/D practice into teaching and learning programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and engage newly arrived students through inclusive and culturally responsive practices.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to contribute collaboratively to faculty and whole school programs/initiatives.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
