What we are looking for:
Are you passionate about creating impactful community connections? We're seeking a strategic and innovative leader to shape the future of community and stakeholder engagement at Council.
In this dynamic role, you’ll lead the design and delivery of engagement strategies that support major projects, drive innovation, and amplify community voices. You’ll use your expertise to develop high-impact plans, deliver creative engagement activities (both online and in-person), and provide strategic advice across the organisation.
What your day will look like:
- Drive the planning and delivery of community engagement across a variety of Council projects and initiatives
- Offer high-level guidance and support on stakeholder and community engagement strategies to internal teams and projects.
- Develop and lead innovative and best-practice engagement strategies, incorporating both online and in-person techniques.
- Conduct detailed analysis of engagement data and deliver high-quality reports with actionable insights.
- Oversee and continuously improve Council’s engagement policies, strategies, and tools to ensure effectiveness and alignment with best practices.
- Administer the community engagement platform and tools, including the stakeholder register, ensuring they are up-to-date and effective.
- Lead engagement training initiatives and foster strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to embed a culture of meaningful engagement.
What you’ll need for success:
- Expertise in the development, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of community and stakeholder engagement strategies, and innovative community engagement principles and practices
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills including the ability to consult, negotiate, network, and advocate with senior management, elected representatives and community members
- Proven ability to facilitate high level stakeholder meetings, and build and maintain effective relationships with customers, key service providers, external agencies and the general public.
- Demonstrated proficiency in problem-solving, including advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing policies, procedures and strategies.
- Current QLD Class C Driver's Licence
What’s nice to have:
- IAP2 certification
- Local Government Experience
- Current working with Children Blue Card or willing to obtain within 3 months.
