Company Overview

Protecnium is an international consulting firm specialising in engineering and technical services. We are currently seeking an Electrical Grade 5 Leading Hand – Tunnelling to support a major infrastructure project located in New South Wales, Australia. This role involves leading multidisciplinary electrical teams in the execution and coordination of permanent electrical works for a tunnelling project. We are building a talent pool for upcoming roles with start dates planned for early 2026.

Role Summary

This position is designed for an experienced electrical professional to lead on-site activities in a complex tunnelling environment. You will work closely with Project Managers and various stakeholders to ensure high-quality, safe, and compliant electrical installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise teams of electricians and subcontractors in tunnel construction.
  • Coordinate execution of electrical works to meet specifications, deadlines, and compliance standards.
  • Enforce strict safety protocols in high-risk underground environments.
  • Conduct site inspections and monitor work progress and quality.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, engineers, and internal teams.
  • Carry out hands-on electrical work when required, especially in complex or sensitive environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Leading Hand or Site Supervisor in electrical works.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience working in Australia is required.
  • Background in tunnelling, underground construction, or infrastructure projects is highly valued.
  • Electrical trade certification or AQF Certificate Level 3 in Electrotechnology (or equivalent).
  • Current NSW Electrical Licence.
  • White Card (General Construction Induction).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • High attention to safety, quality, and compliance.
  • English language proficiency at C1 level.
