Xero's Platform Enablement Portfolio is at the heart of our engineering ecosystem. We’re responsible for ensuring our development teams have the robust, scalable, and efficient platforms and tools they need to deliver world-class products. This includes everything from core infrastructure and developer tooling to fostering best practices and ensuring operational excellence across our technology landscape. In addition to working with the platform enablement team, you'll will be working across Engineering - a really unique opportunity to work across a 1500 team.
The Role
The Director of Operations for the Platform Enablement Portfolio is a pivotal leadership role with significant impact. You'll be instrumental in shaping the operational strategy and execution for the critical platforms that underpin all of Xero's products and services. This role has the scope to influence foundational engineering practices, drive efficiency, and ensure the reliability and scalability of our core technological capabilities. You'll lead a talented team, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and collaborate across the organisation to deliver exceptional operational outcomes.
What you'll do
- Be a trusted advisor and respected member of the Product or Technology leadership team and a critical execution partner to VPs and SVPs by shaping, influencing and executing key business strategy, planning and operating activities.
- As Chief of Staff, proactively identify, shape and execute opportunities for both strategic and operational improvement across your division and the wider Product & Technology org.
- Partner with your SVPs to engage senior Cross Xero stakeholders to align and execute on product or technology led commercial or technical outcomes, for example Company OKRs.
- Drive execution and continual improvement of operational and planning rituals, cadence and activities across your divisions, contributing personally and guiding teams in these activities.
- Facilitate your divisions to effectively prioritise, measure, report & act on key metrics including financial, product and technical indicators, working closely with relevant business partners.
What you'll bring with you
- Experience in working with cloud infrastructure platform teams
- Strong understanding of SRE principles and experience implementing them to improve system reliability.
- Ability to define and execute operational strategies that align with business goals.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across engineering and product teams.
- Solid understanding of modern software development practices and the operational needs of development teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
