We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join our team and help shape the future of AI-powered video creation. You’ll be supporting software engineers and applied scientists in designing and building product solutions based on cutting-edge large language models and generative AI models. From automating video editing tasks to enabling entirely new forms of storytelling, your team will help enable the next generation of intelligent, user-friendly video tools.

You’ll join a nimble, cross-disciplinary team embedded within Microsoft, working alongside engineers, applied scientists, data scientists, product managers and designers to deliver innovative solutions. Responsibilities

  • Delivering success through empowerment and accountability. Managers model Microsoft values, coach for success, and demonstrate care for individuals.
  • Supporting software engineers and applied scientists to continuously learn, improve skills, and grow their careers.
  • Providing and receiving honest feedback, fostering open communication.
  • Advocating for your team, help them remove obstacles, unlock their potential and improve their performance
  • Guiding partnerships with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements and helping your team break down objectives, identify dependencies, and define success criteria.
  • Guiding your team to drive project plans, release plans, and work items in coordination with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Creating and sustaining an effective team culture. We value and promote a high trust environment where we work closely and effectively with others.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of people management and 3+ years of engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or another technical discipline.
  • Strong servant leadership skills and passion for supporting and developing people, with proven experience recruiting, hiring, coaching and defining growth paths for engineering teams.
  • Great communication with the ability to consider others’ ideas, implement new methods, surface and resolve disagreements and empathize with users without breaking a sweat.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in software development in enterprise or high-compliance fields.
  • Experience with cross-functional product teams.

Requirements

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
