Our client is from a well-known family from Japan, overseeing highly successful Leisure, Tourism and Hospitality businesses. Deeply rooted in the fabric of Japanese culture, spanning over 3 generations the business core strength is its reputation around exceptional customer service and of course stability.
The restaurant is intimate and beautifully designed, featuring a small lounge bar, 12 seat sushi bar and two private rooms. The restaurant merges refined tradition with sensory modernism.
The Role
As General Manager, you will be both the cultural heartbeat and the operational backbone of the venue. Leading from the front, you’ll play a pivotal role in launching the space and crafting every aspect of the guest and team experience, in close collaboration with ownership and the chef leadership team. This role is ideal for a restaurant professional who thrives on hands-on involvement, while also possessing a deep understanding of the business’s inner workings.
You’ll be responsible for the opening of the restaurant, overseeing all aspects of launch: staffing, systems and guest journey.
- Build a diverse, high-performing team
- Maintain strong hands-on floor presence
- Guide team in delivering service aligned with Japanese hospitality values
- Oversee reservations, stock control, rostering, and compliance
- Own and manage the P&L, budgeting, and reporting
- Partner with PR/marketing teams to uphold the +81 brand
Ideally, you will bring experience in launching fine dining venues, along with a genuine passion for hospitality. Warm, charismatic, and endlessly enthusiastic about the industry, you’re someone who is deeply committed to delivering exceptional service and creating memorable guest experiences.
- 5+ years in fine dining GM or senior FOH leadership
- Skilled in high-end guest service, preferably with Japanese hospitality exposure
- Hands-on, composed leader with strong floor presence
- Experienced with P&L, cost control, labour management
- Valid RSA/RMLV (or willing to obtain before start)
