Area Operations Manager – Central West NSW

The Opportunity
As Area Operations Manager (AOM) you will be responsible for managing the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations of concrete plants within the Central West region, with a focus on maximising the performance of people, plant and fleet, to meet Holcim operational standards while exceeding customer service standards.
You will take a leading role across the Concrete business ensuring all sites implement Holcim operational standards consistently, whilst overseeing organisational capability by implementing key controls - engaging with plant staff and drivers and providing strong leadership in the areas of health and safety, the environment, operations management, cost management and operational improvement.
You will also ensure all plants have detailed plans in place to ensure full environmental standards and compliance requirements are consistently applied across the area, including proactive community engagement. There are also financial responsibilities to achieve the budgeted production costs and efficiency targets (plant and fleet) and to report variances and take actions as required, including on raw materials, distribution, labour, and maintenance costs.

About You
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, business management or related disciplines (preferred - not essential)
- Strong and hands-on management experience in construction related fields - preferably concrete and/or aggregates or related heavy manufacturing sectors.
- Alternatively, this role may suit a ‘grad plus candidate' wishing to move into an operational management role.
- Credible experience in HR and Industrial Relations.
- Well-developed leadership and team building skills.
- Well organised and self-motivated.
- Proven capability to self-manage.
- Sound communication skills.
- You will be a strong team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in SAP, Excel, Word, MS Project.
