Project Director at No2ndPlace (12 months fixed-term contract)
Do you believe that sport can truly change the world?
Hello. We are No2ndPlace and we fundamentally believe sport has the power to change the world. Our mission is to help the world win with a collective of sport's leading thinkers, activists, creative minds and icons.
A bit about us…
We’re a small agency, but we are making a big impact.
Through impactful campaigns, transformational partnerships and purposeful advisory, we use the power of sport to create enduring social change. Over the past few years we have helped sport bodies, brands and not-for-profits use the platform of sport to stand for more. Our projects are as diverse as they are impactful, including –
- Changing the way that Football fans understand Sustainability through the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023
- Working with Standard Chartered to ensure that girls “Play On” and remain playing sport beyond the age of 14
- Supporting Women in the Pacific to benefit from safely accessing sport, through UN Women and our Project Golkipa pilot
- Working with Mastercard to reshape the way they measure the impact of their partnerships to go beyond brand and business capital but also social impact
- Telling the story of the ever-changing journey of Women’s Rugby in Fiji and the role it has in resetting gender perception and cultural norms in the Pacific with Oceania Rugby
A bit about this role…
We are looking for a Project Director to support the team and to lead the day-to-day management of our key projects and client relationships.
Enabling Social Impact at Every Turn
Take the lead in the planning, execution, and evaluation of large-scale social impact projects across Australia, the APAC region, and global markets. Whether the brief is local or global, you’ll ensure each project is delivered on time, on budget, and with impact at its core. From how we work to who we work with, we want you to seek out innovative ways to deliver every project— ensuring that our projects deliver on the social impact objectives that sit at their heart.
Lead our Project Teams
Manage cross-functional project teams made up of internal staff, partner organisations, freelancers, and strategic advisors. We’ll look to you to bring people together, clarify direction, and keep everyone moving forward. As a leader, you’ll also oversee, support and mentor our Project Manager and other team members as they grow with us.
Share our (and your…) Point of View with the World
From proprietary research to new program frameworks, we’re constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in sport and social impact. You’ll support our Managing Director and Head of Social Impact in leading key internal and external initiatives that define our point of view, inform our partners, and provide growth opportunities.
Keep the Engine Running Smoothly
Take an active role in overseeing the operations of the business—from finance to staffing and resourcing. You’ll work with our team to ensure we have the structure and systems in place to scale responsibly and sustainably.
A bit about you…
You are passionate about sport, not just on the field but about the role that sport plays in our communities and our lives and want to be part of a collective driving change.
We are hoping to add someone to our collective that is
- A deeply passionate, constantly curious, and active advocate for a range of social causes – whether that’s been built to date through work or personal experience
- Someone who wants to contribute to the big and small moments that impact on our world and create meaningful social change in communities
- 7+ years of experience, ideally in an agency setting, with a focus on marketing, partnerships, or strategic collaborations
- A clear and confident communicator, able to interpret and operate in a complex and fast paced system
- A creative problem-solver with a practical mindset, able to develop thoughtful and innovative solutions
- A trusted relationship builder who can confidently lead conversations with senior clients, internal specialists, and cross-functional teams
- A self-motivated individual in a hybrid work setting
If you are motivated to learn, want to help drive our output in a start-up environment and work with a passionate group of people dedicated to creating change, we will ensure that you are set up to succeed.
This is a fixed-term role for one year, with the potential for extension.
