Senior Solicitor Crime – Port Macquarie
Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.
About The Role
As the Senior Solicitor, Criminal Law you will provide legal advice and representation to clients of Legal Aid NSW, including in more complex matters, in accordance with Legal Aid NSW policies and guidelines in order to contribute to the implementation of Legal Aid NSW’s mission to deliver high quality legal services to our clients and to assist them to resolve their legal problems. Supervise and lead junior legal staff in achieving this aim.
About You
As a Senior Solicitor, you will provide high-quality legal services, manage and support legal officers, and oversee staff development. You will ensure the wellbeing of solicitors, stay updated with relevant legislation, and determine applications for Legal Aid. You will provide effective communication with diverse clients and maintaining stakeholder relationships. You will manage complex criminal law matters autonomously while mentoring team members.
We may use this recruitment to create a talent pool for similar ongoing or temporary vacancies we have over the next 18 months for Port Macquarie only.

- be able to provide a current NSW Practising Certificate before you start work with us

- hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
