The role
We’re seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support a major brownfields expansion of a gold processing operation — one of the most iconic open-cut gold projects in Australia.
This is a FIFO role working in a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for checking detailed design and providing technical leadership in the delivery of mineral processing infrastructure for a Super Pit-scale project.

The role
We’re seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support a major brownfields expansion of a gold processing operation — one of the most iconic open-cut gold projects in Australia.
This is a FIFO role working in a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for checking detailed design and providing technical leadership in the delivery of mineral processing infrastructure for a Super Pit-scale project.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and executing mechanical design packages across crushing, milling, CIL, elution, and materials handling systems
- Working closely with process, structural, and drafting teams to produce fit-for-purpose, constructible designs
- Preparing design calculations, equipment datasheets, scopes of work, and technical specifications
- Reviewing vendor data, managing interfaces, and ensuring alignment with client standards and Australian codes
- Providing technical support through design reviews, model checks, and constructability assessments
- Acting as a key technical contact during the design phase and supporting pre-construction queries as required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Extensive experience in detailed mechanical design within gold or base metals projects
- Strong background in brownfields projects or expansions within operating plants
- Proven ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Familiarity with Australian Standards, plant layout principles, and vendor engagement
- Ability to manage multiple design packages concurrently under tight deadlines
- EPC experience
- Competitive market rates + super (dependent on seniority)
