About the role:

The Test Lead – Automation is a role focused on shaping and evolving the organisation’s test automation strategy and framework. Acting as a subject matter expert, this role guides cross-functional teams to deliver consistent, scalable, and high-quality testing solutions.

This role plays a key role in embedding best practices and driving excellence in quality engineering across the organisation.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Define and execute enterprise-wide test automation strategies aligned with business and technology goals.
  • Establish testing standards and best practices, and drive continuous improvements in automation tools and quality metrics.
  • Lead and mentor test engineers, fostering capability growth and coordinating knowledge-sharing initiatives like CoPs and workshops.
  • Select and implement industry-leading automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright), and develop scalable, reusable frameworks.
  • Build and maintain automated test suites (UI, API, performance, integration) and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines with DevOps teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure testable requirements and robust automation planning during early development phases.
  • Define and report on quality KPIs, conduct maturity assessments, and ensure governance across automation implementations.


Skills & Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software quality engineering, including 3+ years in a leadership or practice lead role.
  • Deep expertise in modern test automation tools and frameworks across UI, API, and performance testing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud testing environments, and containerization tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Docker.
  • Proficient in programming or scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or TypeScript.
  • Solid understanding of Agile, BDD/TDD practices, and test lifecycle management tools like JIRA, XRay, and TestRail.
  • Proven ability to mentor teams, drive automation initiatives, and lead testing best practices across teams.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with a track record of building strong cross-functional relationships.
