Senior Cloud AWS Engineer

Join a forward-thinking government team delivering whole-of-government digital services to the Queensland public. As a Senior Cloud AWS Engineer, you’ll provide expert-level support, architecture guidance, and leadership in AWS cloud and DevOps practices to enhance modern, scalable digital services.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and provide advanced cloud infrastructure and DevOps services using AWS technologies.
• Act as the technical lead in designing and presenting architecture solutions tailored to stakeholder needs.
• Guide platform engineering efforts, including onboarding new customers, evaluating emerging technologies, and building reusable DevOps patterns.
• Mentor a team of technical specialists, identifying and mitigating risks while championing continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business drivers and deliver fit-for-purpose cloud and DevOps solutions.
• Support cloud environments through secure CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, AWS CodeDeploy, CodePipeline), containerisation (EKS, ECS, Fargate), and infrastructure automation (AWS CDK, TypeScript).
• Participate in after-hours support arrangements where required.
  
  

About You

• Advanced AWS cloud infrastructure and DevOps experience in enterprise, high-security environments.
• Proven track record in delivering modern, secure cloud-native and containerised solutions.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and platform automation.
• Expertise in modern AWS services (e.g., Lambda, EC2, ECS/EKS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, API Gateway, networking).
• Familiarity with digital identity solutions, data sharing APIs, and developer portals.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• The ability to mentor and lead technical teams in a collaborative, agile environment.
