Agency Lending Trader

POSITION PURPOSE
The Agency Lending team provides asset owners and asset managers with securities lending services out of desks in Sydney, Hong Kong, London, and New York. The Agency Lending team acts as an agent for a variety of clients (sovereign wealth funds, asset managers, and other asset owners such as insurance companies and financial institutions including banks and credit unions). The main function is to lend securities for either cash collateral or securities as an agent for both custody clients and non-custody clients.
The Agency Lending Trader would play an integral role in the regional team with the primary function being to generate revenues by lending fixed income and equities to local and regional brokers. The Agency Lending Trader will work in a small regional team split between Sydney and Hong Kong while also having regular interaction with the team based in London and New York. Outside of lending securities the Agency Lending Trader will be required to work on internal projects which aim to optimize the trading setup as well as maintaining strong relationship with external brokers.
Responsibilities
The Agency Lending Trader will have responsibility for:

Lend Equities and Fixed Income for Agency Lending Funds
Maintain and assist in relationship management for brokers and counterparties
Analyze data and processes and identify efficiency improvements, product or business development opportunities
Managing the ‘recall’ lifecycle with both borrowers and operations
Monitor Daily P&L
Contribute to market commentaries and analysis
Understand and work within regulatory parameters for Asia and recognize global regulation
Preparation of the statistics, benchmarking, presentations
Assist/create estimates for potential clients
Up-date the monthly statistics and analyze customer volumes for Agency Lending
Assistance with ad-hoc data analysis and support for product and business development
Assistance with projects around automation and efficiency improvements
Assisting with cross training of the MFS Front Office with MFS Middle & Back Office teams
May require flexible hours to support the Australian & NZ market or Asian markets
Some travel may be required

They will be autonomous if needed and recognize that skills and training will be provided by a mixture of on-the-job training and building technical knowledge
Given the global nature of the activity and our organization as well as our client base, there may be a requirement for holiday coverage and flexible hours, in addition to some travel

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS (IF REQUIRED)

Degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce or other quantitative discipline preferred
Numeric skills with keen attention to detail
Ability to analyse data and processes and identify efficiency improvements, product or business development opportunities
Available in the evening for conference calls with Europe
Strong Powerpoint and Word skills, Advanced Excel (filters, pivot tables, simple macros)
Solution oriented, creativity, independent thinking, balanced communicator, able to adapt to different styles (cultural, business lines, working styles)
Familiarity with Bloomberg would be a plus
Prior experience in Securities Lending is desirable
