Project Manager, Learning

The Organisation

The Australian Sustainable Finance Institute (ASFI) has been established to realign Australia’s financial system so that more money flows to activities that will create a sustainable, resilient and inclusive Australia.

ASFI does that by implementing key work programs to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Climate mitigation: increased private capital flowing towards emissions reductions across key sectors of the economy at asset and entity levels.
  • Climate resilience: increased private capital flowing towards climate adaptation and resilience.
  • Nature: Nature is valued and integrated into financial decision making.
  • First Nations: First Nations rights and interests are embedded in financial decision making while improving access to finance to drive equity and economic self-determination.
  • Communities Finance: Communities have increased access to place-based financial products and improved financial inclusion.
  • Capability: Shifting capability, mindsets and leadership for sustainability.

The Role

As the Project Manager, Learning, you will play a key role in managing the design and delivery of learning and education solutions that enhance finance sector capability. You will oversee the project delivery of learning programs, manage contractors, and execute initiatives like ASFI’s mentoring program and ASFI Learn courses. This hands-on role requires someone who thrives on getting things done, keeping projects moving, and managing multiple priorities with a calm and organised approach. The role is being offered as a 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the delivery of ASFI’s professional capability programs, including learning product development, mentoring programs, and capability related events.
  • Manage external contractors and learning designers to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of online and blended learning materials.
  • Track and report on delivery milestones, timelines, budgets, and risks.
  • Support the implementation of Australia’s Sustainable Finance Capability Framework.
  • Manage all aspects of the operational rollout of ASFI Learn, including course development and quality assurance processes and work with others on marketing and anything else needed for successful rollout.
  • Develop and maintain clear documentation, including project plans and progress reports, and report to the Executive Team.
  • Facilitate internal and external workshops and working groups as needed.

About You

With an understanding of the sustainable finance, ESG or financial services landscape, you have a demonstrated alignment with ASFI’s mission and values, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach to continuous improvement. You are comfortable working in a small, agile team environment where flexibility, initiative and a collaborative mindset are key. Additionally, you will have:

  • 4-6 years’ experience delivering similar projects in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects and moving parts, people, timelines, and contractors, with a calm, organised and collaborative approach.
  • Experience managing external contractors or content providers (e.g. learning designers, facilitators), including briefing, quality control and delivery oversight.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to independently manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

The Rewards and Culture

Be part of a purpose-driven organisation with a great culture and ambition to make a game-changing impact on sustainability and social impact through finance. You work with industry, government, regulators, and civil society to significantly shape the future of sustainable finance in Australia and unlock capital for climate, environment, and social impact that benefits all Australians.

Not only will you be working to align capital with environmental and social goals, but you will also be part of an organisation that has embedded flexibility around location, hours and how you choose to work, prioritising work: life balance. There is a preference for the individual to be based in Sydney or Canberra, with flexibility to work from home on specific days. Other locations may be considered for exceptional candidates.
