About the role

The Officer Resilience is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of targeted initiatives aimed at enhancing the resilience of individuals, households, communities, and key stakeholders in the Geelong local government area. The role involves assisting in the implementation of evidence-based resources, training, and community activities to build capacity to anticipate, respond to, and recover from disasters and crises.


Day to day, you will:

  • Work with people and communities, and the Victorian Emergency Services and Resilience teams to deliver resilience building in the Geelong area, including with local businesses.
  • Deliver evidence-based and best-practice resources, training, tools, and workshops to enhance disaster resilience within the community.
  • Support efforts to increase sector knowledge and understanding of disaster impacts, preparedness, and the psychosocial needs of affected populations

To be successful in this role, you will have sound discipline knowledge gained through experience in an emergency management role and a proven track record leading and delivering community resilience/development programs.


What you will bring

  • Demonstrated experience in disaster resilience, emergency management, or community development.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge, skills, and expertise in emergency services and resilience based projects
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver training, workshops, and resources.
  • Creativity and innovation - using analytical thinking to support and drive decisions, devising creative approaches to solving complex problems.
  • A Working with Children Check, and current drivers licence is required.

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 4 - Salary from $85,145.84 FTE + superannuation + salary packaging.
