Our Opportunity

Work Location: Solomon Hub

Roster: 4:3 FIFO from Perth

We are currently looking for enthusiastic and high performing Mining Engineer to join the Solomon Mines Operations Planning team. Reporting to Senior Mining Engineer - Medium Term Planning, this role is responsible for providing medium term mine planning support to our Solomon mine operations. You will provide production plan for 3 Months horizon, informing Solomon Hub Operation with production forecast.

Key Responsibilities


  • Prepare, optimise and deliver the monthly 3-month plan for Solomon Hub Operation.
  • Liaise and coordinates with Integrated Planning to support product blending across Fortescue sites, to meet Fortescue products specifications.
  • Delivery of optimised infrastructure and waste landform planning.
  • Maintain and improve the existing mine planning processes.
  • Liaise with support functions, including Approvals, Decarb Projects, Geology, Geotechnical, Surface Water and Hydrogeology, to enable the timely achievement of mining milestones.
  • Communicating options, designs and plans with relevant stakeholders.
  • Delivering product quality, pit progression, waste schedules, fleet requirements, and other technical guidance as required.


Qualifications And Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience gained as a mining engineer (2 years minimum)
  • Exposure 3-month planning will be beneficial but not essential
  • Proficient in mine design software such as Vulcan, Deswik, Surpac or similar
  • Strong scheduling software skills, experience with Alastri software (APS/ATS) and block modelling knowledge is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills with the ability to convey technical detail, potential risks, and opportunities within the planned works to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously, with a strong ability to take initiatives.
