About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and purpose-driven leader to step into the role of General Manager, NT & RHD Lead a position with both regional and national significance.


Based in Darwin, this role provides strategic leadership for the Heart Foundation’s initiatives across the Northern Territory, while also spearheading our national work in contributing to the elimination of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in Australia. You’ll work closely with First Nations communities, the Heart Foundation’s NT Advisory Board, health professionals, government agencies, and other stakeholders to drive advocacy, community-led health initiatives, and public engagement.


You will have the opportunity to work flexibly, working in our Darwin office as well as from home, with occasional travel required. We are open to considering a part-time (0.8) or full-time position.


Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Heart Foundation’s strategy and operations in the Northern Territory.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders across government, health, and community sectors.
  • Drive impactful advocacy and contribute to national policy change on cardiovascular health and RHD.
  • Represent the Heart Foundation in media, public forums, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Provide cultural leadership and support community-led responses to heart health, especially within First Nations communities.
  • Collaborate with national teams to align regional efforts with strategic goals.


What You'll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications and experience in public health, medicine, policy, advocacy, or community services.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence in working with First Nations peoples.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in developing and delivering advocacy strategies and policy submissions.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular health, and ideally, ARF and RHD.
  • A passion for health equity and a commitment to improving outcomes for priority populations.
