ASIC's is looking for a Data Analysts to drive innovation across greater use of data analytics tools.

The team

The roles are available across ASIC's Enforcement Services or Strategic Surveillance teams.

The Enforcement Services group provides expert advice and guidance to ASIC's enforcement and compliance teams, using a range of technologies and digital processes to facilitate faster and better regulatory outcomes. Enforcement Services are future focused and build and maintain systems, tools and capabilities to deliver on strategic goals and ensure regulatory teams have the resources needed to meet the challenges ahead.

The Strategic Surveillance & Data team delivers proactive surveillance outcomes across the Regulation & Supervision (R&S) group through running complex surveillances, leading group wide activities, surveillance projects within and between sector teams. The skills within the team are also deployed to enable a focussed and swift response to specific ASIC wide or priority projects.

The role

As a Data Analyst you will leverage data analytics tools and resources to drive faster and more effective regulatory outcomes.

In Addition, You Will Be Required To

  • Establish and manage data collections and analysis methodologies, including risk-based surveillance and sector supervision.
  • Identify trends and insights from multiple data points and communicate findings through reports, graphs, and dashboards.
  • Support analytics projects by designing processes to collect, clean, and explore data.
  • Write bespoke code and scripts to automate functions and improve processes.
  • Utilize technology to efficiently analyse data and facilitate expert analysis.

About You

The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled professional with a strong background in data analytics, technology, and finance, ready to tackle complex business problems and drive innovative solutions.

  • Degree in IT, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Economics, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in Python, R, SQL, Databricks/Spark, PowerBI, Cloud Analytics, NLP, and/or Machine Learning is desirable.
  • Expertise in data visualization, sourcing, cleansing, manipulation, and presenting complex information to various audiences.
  • Relevant experience in financial services, regulatory environments, government, law enforcement, criminal law, or corporate and commercial law.
