Associate/Senior Associate - Public Law & Regulatory Compliance

We are seeking to appoint an Associate or Senior Associate to join our expanding Public Law & Regulatory Compliance team. The successful applicant will have a minimum of 4 years PAE. The successful candidate have demonstrated practical experience in litigation in the areas of Torts, Common Law, Coronial Inquests and Admin Law.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • General litigation work in the areas of Torts (including intentional torts), Common Law, Personal Injury, Coronial Inquests and Administrative Law (and prosecutions)
  • Court and tribunal work - experience in civil procedure an advantage
  • Representing government bodies in litigation matters
  • Drafting written advice and recommendations
  • Briefing Barristers
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Conduct of litigation files
  • Research in order to keep abreast of legislation changes and case law
  • Contributing to tenders where required
  • Supervision and mentoring of staff including lawyers and non-legal staff
  • Time recording and billing
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed by the principals.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Litigation experience in the areas of Torts (including intentional torts), Common Law, Personal Injury, Coronial, Administrative Law and commercial litigation.Some knowledge of criminal procedure also an advantage.
  • Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas or frameworks clearly.
  • Well-developed initiative, with a demonstrated ability to think critically and strategically.
  • A self-starter, capable of working independently with limited supervision.
