The Software Delivery Manager is a key role in the R&D Customer Software space and is responsible for ensuring consistent, sustained, and regular delivery of high-quality applications within the R&D product portfolio. The role will work closely with the squads across Customer Software, R&D Systems, Services, and Information Technology to ensure that the R&D Customer Software meets and exceeds the needs of the business and customer needs.
The Opportunity
Cochlear has an opportunity for a Software Delivery Manager based in our Sydney, Macquarie office. In this role, the successful Software Delivery Manager's role includes multiple responsibilities such as project management and scrum master activities in line with Cochlear's Product Improvement Process.
Responsibilities include:
- Escalate project risks or changes that may impact scope, schedule, budget, or resources.
- Ensure timely mitigation and involve relevant stakeholders when needed.
- Coach squads on Agile practices to improve delivery and collaboration.
- Drive the adoption of industry best practices and enforce project standards.
- Act as the main point of contact between the team and the wider business.
- Represent the team in cross-functional discussions and decision-making.
- Maintain expert knowledge in software engineering for medical devices.
- Share expertise to support team growth and department capability.

The role will follow relevant quality procedures to deliver quality products and services and identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement. The role will also undertake additional quality responsibilities (e.g., audit) when appropriately trained to undertake these responsibilities.
The successful candidate will lead the delivery of award winning Nucleus SmartNav system which provides wireless, real-time, actionable insights to support navigation during cochlear implant surgery, delivering added assurance that surgery was successful, and the electrode was properly placed.

About You
As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or combination of relevant education and experience
- Knowledge of and exposure to application and cloud software development
- 3+ years' experience in project management or software team management
- Proven experience providing project delivery and team leadership in a software development or engineering environment.
- Ability to motivate and facilitate cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with another project team members.
- Proven experience in influencing, managing, and building alignment between a range of senior, cross functional stakeholders. Team focused. Good at managing relationships and looking out for the needs of the team.
- Proven ability to operate at the intersection of technology and business to maximize effectiveness with shaping product.
- Strong interest to work across various types of projects (desktop software, mobile apps, firmware and hardware projects) and across various disciplines.
- Experience working in Agile software development.
- Very strong customer service orientation.
