Senior Financial Governance Specialist
This role will have responsibility for increased transparency and quality of financial data related to the Fund's investments and reported externally and internally. To do this, you will ensure appropriate accounting methods, practices & procedures are in place.

Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure UniSuper complies with its regulatory reporting obligations including decisions in relation to interpretations.
- Lead the development, monitoring and maintenance of the External Reporting Governance Accountability Framework, and underlying policies.
- Support the development and monitoring of APRA regulatory reporting frameworks as required.
- Support the build and development of new regulatory returns as required.
- Oversight of the reconciliations framework including ongoing enhancement of the framework and monitoring reconciliation completion and review.
- Support regulator engagement as it relates to Corporate Services.
- Interpret regulatory, legislative and statutory reporting changes, improvements and existing requirements into operational processes and provide leadership, support and advice to the Financial Control teams. This includes interpreting APRA return
- Drive, manage, and support change as required in relation to Financial Control processes, risks and controls and ensure alignment to Governance Frameworks.
- Oversight of Standard Operating Procedures to ensure they are up to date and fit for purpose.
- Execution of process improvements to ensure all processes meet certain levels of automation whilst maintaining transparency and auditability.
- Support regulator engagement as it applies to Financial Governance.
- Preparation and presentation of Board and sub-committee papers.
- Provide thought leadership in relation to good financial governance and improvements needed to align to target state
- Develop and deliver training and awareness materials and activities.
- Business partner to designated Financial Control teams.
- Provide support to the other Financial Control team members as required.
- Other duties as requested.
About you
- CA or CPA qualified
- Extensive experience in Financial Governance with background in a big 4 professional services firm (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally.
- Strong accounting skills, including knowledge of accounting standards and APRA regulations
- Analytical and interpretive skills in relation to regulatory requirements and accounting standards
- Strong spreadsheeting skills (Excel)
- An eye for detail, balanced by the ability to see the big picture
- Advanced numerical, reconciliation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders both internally and externally
- Experience with Superannuation, investment accounting or financial services industry is preferable
- Experience in relation to execution of change and change management/governance is preferable
