Salary Range: Clerk grade 7/8, $110,266 to $122,058 + super
Location: McKell, Haymarket with hybrid working arrangements but a minimum of 2-3 days in the office
Employment Type: Temporary Opportunity (Maternity leave cover) until August 2026, with opportunity to extend or make ongoing if other opportunities arise across the team.

The Department of Customer Service (DCS) is a service provider, regulator and central agency of government.
Government Technology Platforms (GTP) enables NSW government through the provision of core and common digital capability including cross sector leadership and delivery of ICT infrastructure and digital services aligned to the NSW Government ICT Strategy.

About the Role
Reporting to the Commercial Operations Manager, this role is part of a collaborative team who value individual input and offers genuine flexibility.
Working closely with the Corporate Finance team, the Commercial Operations Officer partners with GTP business units to ensure the financial data quality and provide detailed commercial and financial reporting that will support the commercial operations and inform and influence the direction of the business to ultimately improve the customer experience and provide greater value to the citizens of NSW.
This involves constantly looking for opportunities to improve business processes, reviewing operational and financial data and accurately utilising financial information to assess the product and project's fiscal outcome.

What are we looking for in our ideal candidate?
  • You must demonstrate strong accounting skills including accruals, reconciliations, asset management and forecasting
  • SAP experience would be advantageous
  • Reporting and strong excel skills a must
  • Ideally you will hold a tertiary qualification in a related field, with or working towards a professional membership (CPA or CA)
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills. The successful applicant will be able to effectively communicate financial information and business requirements to various stakeholders
  • Proactive manner, ability to use own initiative, and willingness to accept responsibility.
  • Attention to detail; Capable of working to tight deadlines; Analytical mindset


What will your day involve?
A general overview would look like this:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for finance-related queries from cross-functional teams across GTP, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Maintain day-to-day finance operations by supporting regular financial processes, identifying issues, and helping ensure business continuity with minimal disruptions.
  • Prepare month-end close by preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments, ensuring compliance with internal policies and timelines.
  • Investigate and resolve queries related to revenue, variance analysis, and financial reporting, providing insights and supporting documentation where needed.
  • Perform comprehensive analysis of raw financial data to identify gaps, transform data into billable items, and coordinate with relevant teams to ensure accurate and timely billing.



Salary Grade 7/8, with the base salary for this role starting at 110,266 base plus superannuation
