The Role
Our Hazelmere-based workshop is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer/Engineer for a short-term project to assist our busy internal design team. You will be responsible for providing expertise in the design, fabrication and refurbishment of plant and any equipment attachments to ensure it is fit for purpose as required by the project scope of work.

The Role
Our Hazelmere-based workshop is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer/Engineer for a short-term project to assist our busy internal design team. You will be responsible for providing expertise in the design, fabrication and refurbishment of plant and any equipment attachments to ensure it is fit for purpose as required by the project scope of work.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and produce manufacturing package(s) (drawings and DXF files) using the relevant computer software applications to ensure it achieves the design outcomes appropriate to the quality, budget, scope of work and program as agreed.
- Scanning and capturing dimensions and geometrical profiles of large mining equipment attached or sections thereof from which improved designs can be developed for new and refurbished products.
- Identify structural failures, perform calculations, analyse data, determine technical specifications of mechanical components providing documented information.
- Work closely within the team of Engineers, Designers and Draftsmen to ensure all deliverables are produced in accordance with the project expectations and safety in design requirements.
- Provide Technical support to Manufacturing/Operations during the repair or build process of large equipment attachments or components.
- Attention to detail is to be of a high standard with pride taken to produce accurate detailed designs and manufacturing packages.
- Ensure all designs and drawings for engineering project work comply with statutory and regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures.
- Reference Australian standards when producing detailed drawings.
- End to end design; from initial concept drawings to completing as built.
- Ensure design and drawings are completed on time and within budget.
- Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or relevant Trade experience.
- Relevant qualification or experience in Drafting
- Solid experience in large mining attachment design and fabrication environment.
- 3D Modelling (Autodesk Inventor or similar)
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, fabrication, and installation.
