About the role
This position plays a critical role within the Emergency Services Program, overseeing and coordinating the Independent Wellbeing Checks (IWC) program for the response workforce. This role ensures that volunteers and staff involved in emergency response and recovery activities receive timely and supportive follow-up to assess their wellbeing and provide necessary psychological first aid.
Day to Day you will
- Coordinate the Independent Wellbeing Checks (IWC) program and process in alignment with established guidelines and protocols.
- Ensure the efficient and effective deployment of IWC team members to conduct wellbeing checks following emergency activations.
- Conduct Independent Wellbeing Checks (IWC) via phone with Emergency Services personnel, focusing on their psychological and emotional wellbeing.
- Maintain an empathetic and impartial approach to workforce wellbeing support, fostering trust and rapport with individuals.
- Provide regular reports regarding wellbeing trends, concerns, and recommendations for improvements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in building rapport and relationships across diverse backgrounds.
- Effective active listening skills, with the ability to provide psychological first aid and support to individuals in distress.
- Demonstrated sound technical knowledge and familiarity with crisis intervention protocols and referral processes to support mental health and wellbeing.
- Ability to work under general direction from senior employees within clear objectives and budget constraints and work with and support teams and people from diverse backgrounds and create a collaborative working environment
