About the role
We're seeking a Head of Legal Operations, reporting to the Group General Counsel (GGC), who will be responsible for supporting the GGC and the Legal team to help deliver Transurban's business objectives.
As a member of the Legal Leadership Team, you will be a key contributor to the overarching strategy and culture of the Legal team. You'll be collaborating with other Legal leaders and their teams to drive innovation, effectiveness and engagement.

Day-to-day, you will:
- Help develop and implement the Legal function's strategy, aligning the team's focus areas to support Transurban's purpose and goals
- Lead the development and implementation of the Legal systems roadmap, including document management, matter management, legal procurement, knowledge management, utilising data and AI to improve effectiveness and efficiency
- Lead Legal process mapping and improvement, supporting the Legal team to identify and eliminate low risk, low value work and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Embed an effective operating model, driving operational and service excellence for the business
- Develop and deliver a Knowledge Management strategy and capability incorporating AI supported tools and platforms
- Develop and implement ongoing reporting and engagement with business partners to understand existing and forecast demand for legal services, and to support the optimised delivery of internal and external legal services
- Manage Transurban's external legal panel to deliver quality service in a cost-efficient way, leveraging law firm innovations and tools
- Support team culture, engagement and development through adoption of Transurban's people and culture tools and processes, including in relation to capability and development
- Coordinate the Legal team's first line risk and compliance activities
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
- In-house or law firm Legal Operations expertise, with a strong track record of strategic and operational delivery
- Proven project management experience leading cross-functional projects in a legal context with strong capability to lead change and drive adoption of new systems and processes
- Proven process mapping & proficiency in legal or business process improvement redesign, ideally using LEAN or Six Sigma methods
- Business Analysis Skills with the ability to elicit and document business requirements and translate into solutions
- Strong Technology Proficiency with a deep understanding of legal technology systems (e.g., Document Management Systems, Matter Management Systems, Knowledge Management Systems, Legal Procurement), the use of data and AI.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering change in a complex environment, strong senior stakeholder management skills, good understanding of financial management budgeting and accounting and financial principles
- Strong people management skills, with previous experience leading a team preferred
