About The Role

As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the finance function through accurate reconciliations, timely reporting, and smooth transaction processing. You will be responsible for maintaining key financial records including bank and credit card reconciliations, assisting with month-end processes, and ensuring accurate accounts payable and receivable management. You’ll also support regular payment runs to vendors and members (including follow-ups), contribute to audit preparation, and provide general assistance across finance operations.

Please note, this is a 3-month max term contract position.

Your Focus

  • Prepare Bank account Reconciliation and Credit card Reconciliation.
  • Assist with preparing month-end journals.
  • Maintain the Fixed Assets and Prepayments reconciliations for month-end
  • Propose and upload weekly Accounts Payable payment run which includes paying to vendors and employee expenses.
  • Upload member payments (cashback) to our members twice a week.
  • Oversee and assisting from time-to-time the entering invoices for Direct Merchants, Gift cards and Retail Media.
  • Oversee and assisting from time-to-time the entering of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable invoices into Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and/or Dext.
  • Assist with AR collections by sending statements to Direct Merchants.
  • Allocation of payments correctly to invoices to keep AR and AP cards clear.
  • Accounts payable and Accounts receivable sub ledger reviews.
  • Assist with annual audit where requested.
  • Responding to queries by other departments.

About You

  • Proven experience with bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Understanding of month-end accounting processes, including journal preparation and reconciliations for fixed assets and prepayments
  • Experience managing accounts payable and receivable processes, including weekly payment runs and invoice processing
  • Familiarity with AR collections (including follow-ups) and allocating payments against invoices to maintain clean ledger cards
  • Hands-on experience with financial systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and/or Dext
  • Ability to upload and process member payments and vendor transactions accurately and on schedule
  • Attention to detail with experience conducting AP and AR sub-ledger reviews
  • Comfortable supporting audit preparation and responding to internal finance-related queries
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to support cross-functional teams and assist with ad-hoc financial tasks
  • Comfortable working remotely and can attend the Sydney CBD office
  • Excellent excel skills with the ability to use basic formula functions (v-lookup, pivot tables etc.)
