Contract type: Full time

Company

Our client, Trawalla Group, is a dynamic, founder-led investment and philanthropic organisation chaired by Alan Schwartz AO, one of Australia's leading philanthropists and business leaders. Their culture balances entrepreneurial innovation with strategic social impact, where initiatives evolve rapidly in a high-trust environment focused on meaningful change. As Alan transitions from MD to Chair of the Trawalla Group, he is repositioning his focus on key philanthropic and social enterprise initiatives, including the AUSTEM Foundation, Transition Accelerator, and the Native Plant Project. To support this evolution, a new Chief of Staff role will be established.

Position

We're seeking an exceptional individual to work directly alongside Alan, supporting his philanthropic vision and personal portfolio initiatives. This unique role sits independently within their structure, requiring someone who can serve as a trusted strategic partner while driving complex, multi-stakeholder projects from conception to completion. You'll be instrumental in translating Alan's vision into actionable plans, cultivating advanced stakeholder relationships across government, business and community sectors, and leading transformative initiatives including the creation of a Cultural Centre at the Eumeralla reserve on the Great Ocean Road.

Profile

The ideal candidate brings exceptional written communication skills and the ability to engage effectively at all levels, from community stakeholders to government officials. You're a strategic thinker who balances creativity with disciplined execution, demonstrating advanced project management capabilities with proven experience delivering complex initiatives. We're looking for a self-directed professional with high emotional intelligence and mature judgement who can manage upward effectively while maintaining adaptability and resilience under pressure. Most importantly, you must be values-aligned with a deep commitment to social impact and the philanthropic mission, ready to represent Alan's vision to diverse stakeholders while managing confidential information with discretion.

Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary package with compensation reflecting your experience and qualifications. You'll have the unique opportunity to work directly with one of Australia's leading philanthropists, gaining exposure to diverse social impact projects and high-level networks that will accelerate your career growth.

Based in Melbourne CBD with an expectation of 3-4 days per week on-site, the role includes limited local travel to support Victorian-based philanthropic initiatives. This is a meaningful position where you'll directly contribute to significant philanthropic outcomes across multiple sectors while developing strategic frameworks that create lasting social change.
