We’re seeking a skilled and motivated financial professional to provide leadership and expert support across Council’s financial services.
In this dynamic role, you'll lead key financial projects, support strategic budgeting and reporting, and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
You’ll collaborate across departments to enhance systems and processes, develop financial models, and deliver accurate, timely reporting to support informed decision-making.

- Stream A Level 6 - $100,017 per annum + superannuation
- $6,000 relocation bonus for suitable candidate
- + 17.5% annual leave loading

What We Are Looking For
We’re seeking a skilled and motivated financial professional to provide leadership and expert support across Council’s financial services.
In this dynamic role, you'll lead key financial projects, support strategic budgeting and reporting, and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
You’ll collaborate across departments to enhance systems and processes, develop financial models, and deliver accurate, timely reporting to support informed decision-making.
What Your Day Will Look Like
- Financial Modelling and Forecasting Lead and support the development, maintenance, and presentation of long-term and ad-hoc financial models, including sustainability ratios and full cost pricing.
- Budget Planning and Coordination Take a leading role in coordinating the annual budget, long-term financial plan, and related processes such as salaries, fleet, and operational budgets.
- Strategic Financial Advisory Provide financial leadership and support to business units, including variance analysis, ad hoc reporting, and strategic financial advice.
- Legislative and Policy Compliance Ensure compliance with National Competition Policy, implement competitive neutrality reforms, and investigate pricing options in line with legislative guidelines.
- Cost and Pricing Analysis Analyse cost drivers, oversee electricity and landfill cost projections, and support rates and fees modelling, including the development of corporate overhead allocation.
- Documentation and Stakeholder Communication Support the preparation of reports, policies, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders including the Executive Leadership Team and Councillors.
What You’ll Need For Success
- Demonstrated experience in the development and maintenance of complex financial models.
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge and ability to provide accurate and efficient financial support in delivery of annual budgets and financial services in a medium/large organisation.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide professional advice, reports and documentation to a variety of stakeholders and the ability to influence outcomes.
- A high level of computer literacy and keyboard skills, with an emphasis on software system databases, data extraction, spreadsheets and work processes.
- Highly developed interpretation skills and knowledge of legislation, legal processes, Australian Accounting Standards and Auditing Standards.
- Current driver's licence
- CPA or equivalent
- Experience in Local Government
