Join our friendly, tight-knit People and Culture team at GemLife for a 12-month maternity leave contract where you'll play a key role in ensuring smooth and compliant payroll operations across multiple entities.

We’re after someone who not only knows payroll inside out but who also communicates well, works collaboratively, and takes pride in being accurate, organised, and reliable.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Process weekly and fortnightly payrolls across multiple entities
  • Handle end-to-end payroll operations, including leave and timesheet management
  • Interpret and apply Modern Awards and ensure compliance with payroll legislation
  • Manage superannuation, WorkCover, and statutory obligations
  • Prepare reports for Finance, People & Culture, audits, and EOFY
  • Maintain payroll systems (HR3, ATS) and documentation
  • Respond to employee and manager queries in a helpful and professional manner
  • Provide first-level HR support on payroll-related matters

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years' experience in payroll, ideally across multiple entities or high-volume environments
  • Proficiency with HR3, ATS, or similar systems
  • Solid knowledge of payroll compliance, awards, super, and leave entitlements
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong Excel skills
  • Great communication skills – you’re helpful, responsive, and clear
  • A proactive, organised approach – you get things done and keep things moving
  • A high level of discretion and integrity – you’ll be trusted with sensitive information
